About Us
The one year warranty gives the customer time to discover any issues with materials or workmanship, however maintenance of fence or deck materials, particularly wood, must be done by the customer. Over time, wood pickets or decking boards may split or warp, and a longer term warranty is not practical where customer maintenance determines product longevity. Properly maintained wood fences and decks can last for 20 years or more; Vinyl fences can last for more than 30 years, all of this depending on environmental factors (i.e. sun/shade, humidity and moisture in soil, etc.).
Our prices include all labor, materials and services, including transaction card fees, however, we do offer a 3% cash discount for all transactions paid with cash, by check, or by any means that does not incur transaction fees. With card transactions, there are fees we incur from card processors that are significant enough that we may not practically absorb the costs. Personal, business, or cashier's checks are welcome. You may mail them to Byrd's Taylormade, P.O. Box 1913, Sumter, SC 29151. We also accept Cash App and Zelle.
We offer our full services throughout most of South Carolina, and in several counties in North Carolina and Georgia. See the listing of counties served at the bottom of the Home page. We offer our full line of fence installations in the listed NC and GA counties. Call to confirm that we can help with your project, as we may elect not to drive 100+ miles to repair a gate latch, or to install a small section of fencing, for example.
Painting or staining new treated wood immediately is not recommended, as the wood won't absorb the paint/stain, and doing so may trap moisture in the wood. Allow the wood time to dry - perhaps a couple of months in summer, maybe 3 to 4 months in colder weather. In any case, give your wood a test by splashing water on it, and if the water beads and doesn't soak in, wait longer. When water does appear to soak into the wood, it is ready. You may also use a sealing product such as Thompson Water Seal, which is meant to be used on unpainted wood. Some products are a combination of sealer/stain. The object is to allow water to escape from new wood, and then to seal it out once the wood is dry in order to prolong its life. Whatever surface treatment you use for wood, you should repeat at least every other year, using the water splash test to check for water soaking into the wood.
